THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST DISTRICT OF THE EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH OF AMERICA

WELCOME to the website of the Pacific Northwest District.

We cover the area from Alaska down through the western half of Washington and Oregon. We are a group of some 43 interdependent churches that are working together to accomplish God's plan as we serve our Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to the Word of God.

The Basics

We are one of 21 District organizations in the Evangelical Free Church of America, an association of over 1250 churches. We are committed to cooperate with one another in ministry and fellowship as we seek to fulfil the Great Commission which Christ has entrusted to His Church. The growig ministry of the EFCA currently extends to some 45 countries of the world.

What Does " Evangelical " Mean?
The term Evangelical refers to our commitment to the proclamation of the Gospel and to the authority of Scriptures as being inerrant in the original writings and the only safe and sufficient guide to faith and practice.

What Does " Free " Mean?
The term Free refers to our form of church government as being congregational. Evangelical Free Churches depend upon the active participation of lay people in the decisions and directions. We are "Free" means each church is wholly autonomous in its governing and decision making. Each church is free to choose their own pastor. Each church is free to govern their own affairs. Each church voluntarily associates with other churches and our national structure. We are independent, but choose to be interdependent with each other sharing freely with others in God's kingdom.
